And the NAMM post game show continues with a guitar so totally awesome that it left everyone gawking and talking—a fun thing to do at the NAMM Show.
Floyd Rose players (and those who would like to be), we have unleashed your wildest dreams in a supreme way. This format is a whompin’ and stompin’ (fun way of saying: very powerful) way to play a Floyd equipped instrument.
You can call this beauty “Locker” but its full name is:
So adeptly named because it is a Bulldog with a locking tremolo system—makes sense, yea?!
You are probably saying to yourself, “Why didn’t you just call it a Bulldog and ask us if we would like a Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo System when ordering up a Bulldog of our very own.”
Glad you asked that question.
Now, now, you know us at Anderson Guitarworks, form and function must always flow together as one. We did not just take this style of guitar and slap on a Floyd-style bridge and locking nut. There is a reason why Bulldog Locker became its own separate and individual model within the Bulldog family. This specific Bulldog is musically engineered to be the archetype for magnificently flawless Floyd performances.
Utilizing traditional Bulldog tilt-back neck angle, neck-to-body geometry is precisely calculated so this Bulldog Locker’s locking bridge can be counter-sunk (like all of our other models) into the body, rendering a way-comfortable bridge-to-body profile and playing feel.
Bulldog’s preferred string-to-body relationship also remains the same on the Locker as on the regular Bulldog, giving a comfortable approach angle and resting points for your picking arm and hand. One of the reasons Bulldog is so popular and enjoyable to play.
Now, if this wasn’t enough to make the Bulldog Locker a very special model unto itself, there is even more and it is very cool to know. Pull your chair closer.
The rigors that the tremolo action of a Floyd Rose-style bridge can load onto the guitar’s neck are very different and more extreme than that of a tune-o-matic or even a vintage tremolo bridge for that matter. It is questionable whether a traditional South American Mahogany-backed neck is quite up to the task—the wood may be too soft and pliable.
But not to worry one bit for this is really what makes Bulldog Locker so unique and yet so sonically cool.
This is how it lays out:
A regular Bulldog with a tune-o-matic bridge (or vintage tremolo) bridge offers the neck wood options of:
• Mahogany neck with a Rosewood Fingerboard
• all-Rosewood neck
But (drum roll please) when you elect to have your new Bulldog outfitted with a locking tremolo—making it a Bulldog Locker—your neck wood choices change from those of the regular Bulldog, to:
• Sepele Mahogany with a Rosewood Fingerboard (a different species of mahogany retaining the same wonderful mahogany timbre but with a stronger structure)
• Chocolate Maple with a Rosewood Fingerboard
Yes, who loves you? We are looking out for you in every way and you are now free and clear to outfit your Bulldog with a locking-style tremolo, if you so choose—with not a worry, just pure playing and sonic magic at your service.
And as you might have well suspected, it is the Men of the Mesa/Boogie Factory Store in Hollywood, California, who participated in appointing this brand new, Trans Black Burst, Bulldog Locker—on board and available now.
