So who is Willie anyway and what has he done to this Drop Top?

A Drop Top outfitted with such vision and inspiration, Willie certainly cannot be mere mortal man.

…And he is not…

Collectively greater than the sum of his parts, Willie is not one man but many—sort of like Jethro Tull, or Lynyrd Skynyrd or Hoobner Poobner. (Okay, forget that last one; there is no Hoobner Poobner, to my knowledge.)

Yes, Willie is more—an amalgamation of great people banded together for a higher purpose…to offer the finest guitars to the world!

How does Willie do this? What am I trying to say?

I don’t know…oh wait, yes I do:

Willie’s American Guitars is an outstanding guitar shop—known the world over for offering the coolest guitars anywhere, and it is they who selected how this particular Drop Top would be outfitted—very nice job.

The duties of design really fell to Jon—a super nice guy, for sure—who wanted to make this Drop Top very special. To do so he granted command of chords and single note runs to our now-legendary, sleek, slim and fast Even-Taper neck backshape—outfitted with Heavy frets for blissful and buttery string bending in all regions.

Standing in support of the beautiful Cherry Bursted, Flamed Maple Top is a Mahogany body back, accentuating signature midrange power and disposition. It is this that lays the foundation for formidable humbucker tones to flourish.

And speaking of humbuckers and flourishing, what immediately sets this drop-dead-gorgeous Drop Top apart from all others is a pronounced visual prowess propagated by twin gold-sheathed HC-Series pickups, particularly predominant as the glimmer of stage lighting is refracted toward the eye of the envious beholder. (Now that was a fun sentence to write—and hopefully to read as well—and very true.)

HC-series pickups make their sonic presence known with a gorgeous and focused vintage tone that does not lack any muscle but remains sweetly musical—the magic way to do a humbucker. The HC1 in the neck is not too bloated but just right for that position, while the HC2 takes up its duties at the bridge with dominance and authority, without having even a hint of that, “oops, I-accidently-sat-on-a-goose” tone—just pure music all the way through the tonal spectrum.

And so now you know the real story: Why Willie and Hoobner Poobner…

Hold it, there is no Hoobner Poobner, remember?

Right…why Willie and not Hoobner Poobner…

Will you please forget Hoobner Poobner altogether? There is no one called Hoobner Poobner!

Very well, then…why Willie…is a man among men and how this one-of-a-kind Drop Top has set him apart and lifted him to higher heights than other men.

You do realize that Willie is not a man but a cool music store in St Paul, Minnesota, don’t you—and they have this beautiful Drop Top in there store now?

What? When did that happen?

In paragraph 8, it happily happened in paragraph 8, that is when we explained who Willie really is and…

Okay, I got it now—very good—magnificent Drop Top at Willies—yes! And no Hoobner Poobner…but what a great name for a band.
