Cobra
Maple Top on Mahogany
Dark Cherry Burst with Binding

It was an enjoyable flight from Los Angeles. By the time I had read through the Tom Anderson Guitarworks catalog twice and mentally put together my next dream guitar, we were touching down. The mysterious woman who had been looking over my shoulder had apparently become equally enraptured, deciding upon a Cajun Red, Drop Top for someone special in her life. Final approach was a rollercoaster ride to the tarmac. I gathered up my luggage, my stomach and hugged the captain as we exited the aircraft. Walking through the airport, the welcoming signs made it abundantly clear; this was a town that thoroughly believed in the power of its music.

Nashville, Tennessee—The Music City—although an amazing town to gorge yourself on a plethora the musical sights, sounds, experiences and professional Anderson Guitar Players, we had come for a specific and clandestine purpose. It seems this Dark Cherry Burst, Cobra had seriously captured our hearts and musical imagination with its inherently thick, thunderous sonic signature that communicates with eloquent articulation, thanks to its Anderson Extended-Bandwidth. Better single coil sounds have never been experienced from a raging twin-humbucker, 24 ¾-inch scale length instrument—ever—granting it unparalleled versatility. Its resonance and sustain haunted us as I imagined it to still be ringing out even now. And how could we forget the feeling of slipping and sliding around that amazingly comfortable Anderson fingerboard equipped with those buttery-feeling, huge-sounding exclusive Anderson Stainless Steel frets. I was feeling lightheaded and needed to sit down for a minute to regain my composure.

Our field operatives reported that the Cobra had been spotted at the coolest music store in Nashville—Guitar Heaven—a very good place, staffed with warm, helpful people. But how could it have slipped our grasp before posing for a portrait? Was it the fact that the owner of Guitar Heaven, Mark, wears a black leather jacket and rides a Harley? No, he’s way too nice. Is it that Kory can do several one handed push-ups? No, he hides his muscle well. Perhaps it was Lisa or maybe Travis, no it was Brandon, no Todd, wait…it was Aaron and Trent working together…or Colin maybe—after all he is Clint Black’s tech. It couldn’t be that we just forgot.

Well, anyway, it was time to act. With confidence and authority we walked right through their front door, marched up to the Dark Cherry Burst, Cobra, took it from the wall and hugged it. Kory tried to pry it from my grasp until I flashed my Anderson membership card. He graciously granted us permission to take pictures of this Cobra since its new Dark Cherry Burst finish captures the very essence of an eternal vintage vibe from days long gone, while still remaining as compelling as ever. Such is the way of a timeless classic from yesterday or today.
