When you finally get to lay your hands on a real Crowdster and experience for yourself its no-compromise performance characteristics, there won’t be any doubt why we chose to continue with the “Incomparable Live-Music Acoustic” theme for a second week in a row. Of course, this one is quite different from its predecessor.

To begin with, it was perceived, produced and performance-tested in our private Patagonian Plant high in the Andes Mountains—where all inverted Andersons originate. But that is another story.

This story began as Alexis walked into New York Guitar & Bass Boutique, a very special music store located in the heart of New York City. There he was pleasantly greeted by Jimmy and the boys. It was on this fateful day that they shared a little secret with him which would change his musical life forever, for the Guitar & Bass Boutique was in possession of the very first Spruce-topped, Anderson Crowdster Acoustic ever created. No one had ever seen a Crowdster before—much less one with the tradition of Spruce.

The Spruce top prompts the Crowdster to speak with a slightly more delicate, naturally compressed and percussive voice than its maple topped sibling—very sweet and very musical. Once you have heard one, it is not easily forgotten.

Alexis was taken with the way this new Anderson creation stepped through all its paces with unrivaled cooperation but something was wrong—very wrong. Everything was all topsy-turvy and twisted about. What was going on? Had the magnetic field of the earth shifted?

Thank goodness for Jimmy’s quick and clear thinking head. He reminded everyone that Alexis was a left-handed guitar player, playing a right-handed Crowdster. A sigh of relief could be heard throughout the entire shop. Nevertheless, there was another situation to face now for, like all who play upon the Crowdster, Alexis had fallen in love! But there was no such thing as a left-handed Crowdster Acoustic. Not one existed. Alexis was forlorn.

The compassionate men of The Boutique could not have this and as if in one orchestrated move, Marco dove for the phone and, while dialing the only phone number he knew by heart, flipped the handset to Jimmy. It was Marco’s mom on the other end of the line. She was happy to hear from them and understood the situation only too well, suggesting they check the number and try their call again.

The next call reached the Musical Emergency Hotline at Anderson Guitarworks and with minutes all at New York Guitar & Bass were reassured that Alexis’ desire would not go unfulfilled—and at no extra charge for lefties. It is just our way of saying thanks to left-handed guitar players everywhere and…

Paul McCartney, call us! We can build you a guitar that will make Yesterday and today sound even better—if that is possible.

Editor’s note: Celine Dion and her band recently played several gigs in the New York area, including the Today Show. Having flown in without their gear, her skilled guitar Player, Andre Coutu, was in need of an Anderson in a bad way. Once again, it was New York Guitar & Bass to the rescue with the loan of a Translucent Plum, Hollow Classic for the gig. Now this very guitar that made it to the “Big Time” resides at New York Guitar & Bass. For more on Andre Coutu, try this!

Top Secret Editor’s Note: Rumor has it that they may be hiding the original Spruce-topped Crowdster in their backroom—keeping it for posterity perhaps. Perchance, with a little coaxing, it could be pried from their grasp.
