HAPPY NEW YEAR

It’s party time baby and Tom Anderson Guitarworks is no exception. Come on in. We are really glad to see you. Can you stay awhile and celebrate with us? Okay, but we warn you it could get really wild! Can we get you something to drink? We have Orange Juice, its rich in vitamin C. There’s grape juice, which is full of flavonoids and great for vascular health. We have low-fat and non-fat milk, goat’s milk and green tea—which is as nutritious as a serving of vegetables.

Excuse me a minute.

“Tom, please take your feet out of the punch bowl. Nobody is going to want to drink that if you don’t at least remove your shoes first.”

And we have a natural fruit-juice punch so it’s very healthful as well. What would you like?

The theme of this year’s annual New Year’s Eve Fiesta was really Bruce’s idea. We call it the Vintage Trio. Once he saw all three of these guitars in the Final Assembly area at the same time he knew they had to be featured as a group. To have such beautiful examples of these stunning vintage colors together at the same time is as special and as rare as the planetary alignment of Venus, Mars and Jupiter and it sent Bruce over the moon. I know that was a lot of space talk for one sentence, but what the heck, it’s a party!

During the photo shoot both Chuck, from Finishing, and Charles, from Final Assembly, made it a point to express their wholehearted approval of these three time-honored instruments appearing together. These fine traditional shades have a way of really speaking to the player within.

It was Keith from Gelb Music in Redwood City, California who decided they needed a Baby Blue, T Classic. For this guitar he enjoys the way the more traditional solid body focuses and points the characteristic strong, broad midrange frequencies of alder. He likes the way the solid maple neck controls the extreme top and bottom ends of the inherent bandwidth and the added flexibility derived by including a vintage tremolo bridge and swapping the traditional neck pickup for two VA1s in the neck and middle positions. This format has become amazingly popular perhaps because it brings so much added versatility to this venerable style.

Great minds think alike. Maybe that is why Steve Mesple of Wildwood Guitars in Louisville, Colorado chose Seafoam Green to enhance this stunning Hollow T Classic. Equipped with a fixed bridge and binary pickup system—our TV1 and TV3—this Anderson arrangement is much more in keeping with conventional protocol—to a point. Visually undetectable, hollow sound chambers break the mold by increasing harmonic content and gently softening initial attack, insuring warmth from a variety of amps.

Brian and Jeff of the Brook Mays Pro Shop in Dallas, Texas ordered up this Fiesta Red Classic with an alder body, choosing to visually complement with the reddish hue of a Madagascar rosewood fingerboard while basking in its rich sonic contribution of extended low-end and a touch of sparkling highs.

Always pushing the envelope, there is a new secret weapon aboard this axe. With a strong vintage-vibe soundly intact, no one is the wiser until careful examination reveals a small toggle switch located between the volume and tone knobs. It is true that the standard Anderson VA1, VA1R and VA2 pickup configuration is enough to satisfy all who yearn for an unparalleled tonal character of this nature but there can be even more. Equipped with a VA12, VA12R and the new prototype VA23, this guitar renders all the goods of an uncompromised VA1, VA1R and VA2 tone. But with the simple flick of the VA Booster switch it instantly ramps up to the hotter, but still surprisingly vintage disposition of a, VA2, VA2R and VA3 layout.

Of course, all of these beauties share the same lighting-fast, unrestrained playability inherent in every amazing Anderson, guaranteeing no need for compromise no matter which tone you prefer.

Are you sure you don’t want a glass of punch?

Happy New Year from all of us at Tom Anderson Guitarworks!
